referred to in the future tense.

- Links to web pages for upcoming World Fantasy Conventions and
the official World Fantasy Convention web site were updated.
(November 1, 1999)
- A final membership list,
including at-the-door registrations, has been posted.
(December 6)
- The World Fantasy Awards were
announced.
- Stars: some attendees had silver or gold stars on their badges.
A small contest was held to guess the meaning of the stars, with
winners and the real answer to be revealed at the banquet; however,
after the World Fantasy Awards were announced the banquet broke up.
Best guess: "25th Anniversary of The Sneetches, by
Dr. Seuss" (originator unknown, overheard in conversation.)
Honorable mention: "Silver Stars ate all their vegetables. Gold
Stars cleaned their plates" (Allen Baum).
Most intriguing: "IRS Agent" (I'll give you credit if you want.)
Real Answer: Silver stars were for good penmanship in filling out the
registration forms. Gold stars were for people who took the time
to write a readable letter.
